Day 58 - 26/06/07
We wanted to stay in Palas do Rei which is the next logical stop after Portomarin but it was woefully under equipped for hosting pilgrims - there were two auberge’s with 120 beds between them and they were all gone very quickly. There were tons of hotels cashing in on this and a lot of pilgrims got private rooms - we chose walked on with a few not so friendly words to say about the lack of auberges and found a wonderful auberge 4km on. It had a fireplace in the bar and was made of stone with huge dark wooden beams and rusted farm tools hanging on the wall. There was celtic music playing throughout the evening and our host was very warm and welcoming - exactly the opposite of Palas do Rei and a pilgrim haven.
