Another beautiful day on the maseta, we passed through Castrojeriz which was said to have been founded by Julius Caesar. Just after we left the town we climbed a small hill that had an excellent view of the plains, I couldn’t help but imagine that Caesar had once rode the same road and what it would have looked like then and what he would have been thinking.

On the way to Itero de la Vega we met a german man with a campervan who was looking for his wife who was due in Frómista that night. It was her birthday and he had driven from germany with their dog to surprise her. The dog was a smaller cousin to the St Bernard and I think Heidi would have kidnapped it if it would have fit in her pack.
