Some fascinating facts about dabbawalas
Have been reading up about the dabbawalas (lunch delivery men in mumbai) on wikipedia - here are some highlights.
In 1890 Mahadeo Havaji Bachche started a service with 100 men
They formed an informal union in 1930
Formed a charitable trust in 1956
Currently around 200,000 boxes of lunch are delivered every day by ~4500 dabbawalas
Each dabbawala earns $40-$80 USD / month

Precious moments
I really don’t like those viral little messages you see come up on facebook where they ask you to repost something if you agree but this one got me hook line and sinker and I couldn’t resist.
There are 5 things in life you cannot recover: A stone…after it’s thrown. A word…after it is said. An occasion…after it’s missed. The time…after it’s...

Enspiral: The #LiveBelow Buzz →
ok, I admit it - the quote about copying a food plan this weekend was mine. But hey, I’ve been busy…
enspiral:
There’s a buzz in the Enspiral office this week, and it’s not due to the snow outside.
We’re very excited by the forthcoming ‘Live Below The Line’ challenge that 12 or so of us are taking part in next week.
Check out our main blog and ‘challenge to a duel’ to Wellington...
I Urgently need to find $219.76
This is really important - Sam Rye is currently leading the Enspiral team in our Live below the line fundraising efforts (http://fundraise.livebelowtheline.co.nz/enspiral) and to be honest I don’t think it’s good for him.
He keeps walking around the office with his chest puffed out acting like he owns the place, dropping comments like “So, how much have you raised today...

Universities as you know them are dead
Two big trends are about to intersect and the result will give the higher education space a shake reminiscent of what has happened in the music industry.
Trend 1: Around the world governments are reducing the amount they subsidize university education and the amount students have to pay is going through the roof. Whether this is good or bad is irrelevant, it is happening and I think it is...

Sometimes Warren Buffett is pure class - awesome opinion piece, bang on the money.
dwellman:
The more I read from and about Warren Buffett the more I respect him as a business leader. I wish more business leaders had ethics, principles and integrity. (and that is all i have to say on that)

Absolutely fascinating talk about the similarities between cities, companies and living systems. What struck me most is the theory seems to indicate that substantial collapse of cities as we know them is inevitable - an ever increasing treadmill which requires innovation at faster and faster rates.

I’m slowly converting everyone in Enspiral over through one on one demos and it is making it much easier to collaborate on things - get’s all those todo requests out of emails and into a structured system that is actually designed for task management.
